The purpose of the journal Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies is to contribute to the development and dissemination of multidisciplinary knowledge on organizations and markets in emerging economies, to increase dialogue among scholars focused on a specific emerging economy or region, and to encourage and give an outlet to high-quality scholarship, both local and international, on this subject.
The journal uses a broad definition of emerging economies that excludes only the most developed countries from its focus. Therefore, Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies is inviting studies from Central and Eastern Europe, the majority of Asian countries, countries in Central and South America, and Africa.
Emerging economies vary significantly in size, industry structure, geopolitical location, and natural resource reserves such as oil and gas. These differences impact the distinctiveness of their organizations and markets. This variety of emerging economies might motivate scholarly curiosity to identify context-specific relationships as well as trends across different emerging economies.
The journal concentrates on studies that emphasize the uniqueness of emerging economies in terms of how:
a) organizations are created, structured and managed;
b) organizations interact with their markets;
c) local and global forces shape both organizations and their markets.
Combining the variety and similarities of emerging economies with the interaction between organizations and their markets allows scholars to disclose specifics of emerging markets from numerous perspectives.
Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies welcomes analysis of emerging economies from the perspectives of organizational sciences, considering marketing strategies among the important ways in which they interact with their markets and consumers. The journal also appreciates analysis on specificities of markets from an economic perspective. However, this does not limit addressing issues of organizations and markets from management, finance, and related disciplines, especially encouraging research on the ways in which organizations demonstrate innovativeness in the context of global environmental and technological challenges. In all instances, the journal appreciates studies that highlight specificities and patterns that occur in emerging economies and develop new theoretical and empirical knowledge on the subject.
The journal is mainly looking for empirical papers that study specific issues employing qualitative or quantitative methodologies. However, we also appreciate conceptual/theory building articles that suggest novel theoretical models, develop propositions, and outline directions for further research.
In all cases, the journal equally appreciates and encourages research by scholars from emerging economies as well as studies that are undertaken by researchers from developed countries and aims to achieve synergy between these sources. The concept of synergy is reflected in the structure of the editorial board as well as in the network of reviewers, which allows the peer review procedure to be rigorous and constructive, helping to advance the best research papers.
The Organizations and Markets in Emerging Economies is a journal of quality studies and focuses on new aspects of organizational and market studies in emerging economies.
